Need to Read Together for Teach's Class

Something really cool happened this week! I have been helping Teach with a grant for her classroom. She really needs books so her kids can read together in little book groups. She has 32 students and she is in a Title 1 school which means it is in the highest level of poverty.

Let me back up a minute.

So about a month ago she brought home these papers that told about money from Chevron that was available for worthy projects. She was a little nervous about the paperwork, so I helped her a bit and last week her request for funds on www.Donorschoose.org went live. On the very first day she had two people donate $10 each toward her $866 price tag. One was anonymous, but the other was a dear high school friend of hers. It felt like it was going to be a long hard road to get those books in her room and available for the kids to read.

Then two days later, Chevron stepped in and funded the entire thing! We were so excited! Here is a link so you can take a look at it yourself if you want. For all of you teachers out there, the funding/grant money from Chevron ends on November 15. It was a bit of a pain, but the payoff was amazing! Check out her project by clicking here.
